AWARE Workshop for Animal Welfare

Posted by alexandra on September - 17 - 2013

AWARE (Animal Welfare Research in an Enlarged Europe) will be holding Workshop II: Strategies to support animal welfare in Ohrid R of Macedonia, on 7-8 October 2013.

The workshop will develop ideas for strategies to improve the awareness of animal welfare issues, for example through communication, education or legislation for new EU member states and candidate countries. There will be information on existing training materials, an introduction to the OIE Improved Animal Welfare Program, and Poultry Passport – developing a national standard of training.

The general discussion will result in the creation of a report and guidance document (policy advice scheme). Participants will contribute to the creation of this document through recommendation of scientific, practical, and pragmatic advice on how animal welfare legislation will affect and/or be useful for the farmers and animal industries.
